The Michigan Fallen Foot float is made up of people who are remembering our fallen heroes
by providing an active and honorable tribute to those who have died in the Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts through participation in the Ferndale Michigan Memorial Day Parade. We strive to honor veterans, and all who have served our country through action whenever possible.
Volunteers carry signs with a name, photo and information about the soldier on it as we walk in the parade. We are grouped by years and preceded by bagpipers and a color guard with currently and formerly enlisted members of our armed forces.
Our organization and float has no political agenda. Walkers wear red, white and blue without logos or statements on their clothing. Our mission is to simply honor and remember those whom have fallen in service for our country.
Our goal is to have each volunteer carry one sign each. We need more than 300 volunteers each year to carry signs and banners. In this way, the number of men and women we have lost is visually represented. We also need people to carry banners and signs. We will never deny somone the chance to carry a sign. Families are welcome and many of our walkers have been participating every year.
